Studies

Studies (or indicators) can be applied to charts to analyze and visualize data. They can be combined, referenced across different charts, used in functions and math formulas, be shared with others, data exported to CSV, and more.

Overview of the Studies Window. All studies referenced in this guide can be found on the list below. To open this window on the title bar click Analysis > Studies

Study Identification

Example: ID1.SG2

Studies and their subgraphs are all individually identified. In some cases, a user may need to understand these identifiers.

Looking at a basic example of adding a Bid Ask Volume Ratio study to a blank chart:

Sierra Chart now names this:

ID:1

The next study added would be called: ID:2, then ID:3 and so on

Each study has an ID and number, but all studies contain 1 or more subgraphs. Sierra Chart adds the subgraph number to the ID string: SG1, SG2, SG3, etc

ID:1 is the volume study, and Volume Ratio Avg is SG1, the first Subgraph of this study. Left with:

ID:1.SG1

ID1.SG1 = [NAME AND NUMBER OF STUDY] . [SUBGRAPH NUMBER]

TLDR: An indicator or study has a two part string to identify the study.
