Trading in a Simulated (SIM) environment

Tip: Ensure the Control Bar has a Live / Sim button. When the button is colored trading is Live.

Typically uses for simulated trades:

• practice strategy
• back test trading ideas or past trades
• learning or execution practice

Tip: One method to simultaneously trade SIM and another account is to run two copies of Sierra Chart. Download a second copy of Sierra chart and name it “SierraChart2. Tutorial HERE and with this second copy can be trade one SIM.

Best Practices When Trading SIM

Because it’s common for traders to switch between Live accounts and simulation, it’s best to avoid technical errors. A few measures:

Color the trader order window different colors between Live and SIM

• SC Menu: Global Settings > Graphics Settings
• Change the color of Chart Trade Window Background Live to differentiate from Chart Trade Window Background SIM
